The Ways You Can Discover God’s Will

When you genuinely seek God’s will, He will show you. However, you must learn to know His will and plan for your life. Start by praying and asking for wisdom. Next, surround yourself with Godly advisors and learn to hear His voice. Finally, surrender your will to Him and follow His lead.

Listen to God

Ultimately, knowing God’s will is all about hearing Him. He will speak in many ways, including your emotions and desires, but you must first be quiet. It cannot be easy, but it is crucial to the process. Set aside time each day to be alone and focus on listening to God. Listen to what He says in Scripture.

Also, take note of things He speaks through religious leaders and teachers. It can include the gospel, podcasts, and other teachings. However, this should always be the same as listening to Him directly. It should only confirm what He has already revealed to you. It is important to stay rooted in Scripture, so consult it regularly.

Surround Yourself with Godly Advisors

You need to surround yourself with godly counsel to hear God’s voice. It is the first step to seeking His will. First, you should spend time with God’s Word and listen to teachings during Sunday school. It will give you a biblical perspective on God’s will. Second, you should spend time with Godly counselors.

Surround yourself with those who “pattern themselves after God’s ways and speak seasoned counsel.” (Proverbs 11:14). He who walks with wise men will prosper, but he who associates with fools will be smart for it. It means joining a small group where you can talk about God’s Word and discuss what it means to seek His will.

Ask for Wisdom

God wants us to seek His wisdom. We should ask for wisdom often and base our requests on Scripture. It means reading and studying the Bible, following teachings based on Scripture, and avoiding things against God’s instructions. In pursuing wisdom, we should also surround ourselves with wise people, wise advice, and wise books.

Wisdom is a spiritual act that has very little to do with our cognitive development or education. Wisdom comes as we surrender our will and are anointed by the Holy Spirit. When wisdom is present, we can move forward confidently in the direction God is leading us.

Learn to Surrender Your Will

To understand God’s will for your life, you must learn to surrender your plans and desires. It is not easy to do, but it is necessary to know God’s will. Start by ensuring you have set aside time each day to spend with God.

It can be done by reading the Bible or praying. Next, surround yourself with godly friends who can offer advice and support. Finally, decide based on all the evidence you have gathered. Pray and ask God to make clear His will for your life if you’re unclear about what to do.

Learn to Hear God’s Voice

Hearing God’s voice is the second step to knowing His will and plan for your life. It involves quieting yourself and spending time reading Scripture. As you read, listen for His voice and ponder the words. Memorize and internalize them so they’re in your heart, and then ask Him for direction.

Also, learn to listen for His voice through providential circumstances and direct impressions. However, make sure your motives are pure, so you’re open to accepting His guidance and obeying Him faithfully, even if it may not be what you want to hear. God always has our best interests at heart!

Make a Decision

After you have identified your goal, gathered all necessary information, and weighed the consequences of each option, it is time to decide. It’s a critical stage since it will enable you to see how your choice will impact your life now and in the future.

When you make a decision, remember to ask God for guidance. He knows all you will face and can provide you peace of mind. Finally, remember that God’s ultimate will is for your sanctification and salvation. He will lead you to do what is right and good, even if it sometimes seems hard.
